Ford Moves on from Virginia, announces EV Battery Plant will be built in Michigan

"This plant – called BlueOval Battery Park Michigan – initially will employ 2,500 people when production of LFP batteries begins in 2026. Ford will have the option to further grow its battery capacity at its Marshall, Michigan, plant, which will be part of a wholly owned Ford subsidiary."
"This new agreement with CATL adds to Ford’s existing battery capacity and available battery technology made possible through a series of key collaborations – including with SK On and LG Energy Solution (LGES)."
Yes, this means Virginia has now officially lost out on thousands of good paying Union jobs. This battery plant will be wholly owned by the Ford Motor Company, a company whose stock is publicly traded, is chaired by an American, and backed by the Ford family, which it has been for more than 100 years. While I'm happy the good people of Michigan will be getting these jobs, I'm sad to see an area of Virginia which desperately needed these jobs will continue to follow the misguided beliefs of their Dear Leader and his minions in the Governor's office who detest unions and believed this battery plant was part of some broader Chinese effort to undermine the state of Virginia.
