By Justin Jouvenal October 1

A former George W. Bush administration official and lobbyist pleaded guilty Wednesday to assaulting a woman he picked up in his car at a Baileys Crossroads clothing store this year, according to attorneys. ... Sloan Wilson Rappoport, 45, of Arlington faces up to a year in jail at sentencing Dec. 12.

The one-time adviser to former secretary of commerce Donald L. Evans struck up a conversation in Spanish with a 28-year-old woman at a Ross store in the 5800 block of Crossroads Center Way on Jan. 31, police said.

As the woman exited the store, Rappoport pulled up next to her in {his} silver-colored Mercedes-Benz and asked her to get in, police said. He then locked the doors and drove to a nearby location where she claimed she was sexually assaulted, police said. The victim escaped and fled.

On Wednesday, Fairfax County Circuit Judge John M. Tran dismissed a more serious charge of abduction against Rappoport, before he entered his guilty plea. Rappoport’s attorney declined to comment.
