Authorities say a 19-year-old man who
died Wednesday while skiing at Copper Mountain Resort lost control on an intermediate trail and crashed into a tree.
Nathan Rom, of Arlington, Va., was visiting with his family on spring break, the Summit County Coroner's Office said on Friday. ... "He was wearing a helmet," Coroner Regan Wood said in a statement.
Rom was heading down the American Flyer intermediate trail on Wednesday when the crash happened about 11 a.m., the resort said. ... The resort's ski patrol responded and provided emergency first aid before the man was taken to St. Anthony's Copper Mountain Clinic, officials say. ... The coroner's office said Rom's death was caused by blunt force trauma injuries and is considered accidental.
The death was the second reported on Colorado slopes Wednesday. A 49-year-old Colorado Springs man
died Wednesday morning after a ski crash at Telluride Ski Resort.

Nathan Rom, 19-year-old Arlington resident, has died in a ski accident in Colorado.
The
Denver Post and
other local media reports that Rom lost control on an intermediate trail at Copper Mountain Resort and crashed into a tree. Rom was wearing a helmet but died of blunt force trauma.
The incident happened Wednesday and was the
second skiing death in Colorado that day.
Rom was a recent graduate of Bishop OConnell High School, where he rowed crew and was recognized for academic achievement.
