Virginia AG Wants Law Changed For Primary

Leave it to Virginia Attorney General Ken Cucinelli to find a way to help out the extreme right wing. He is planning to file emergency legislation to open up the Virginia primary ballot to everyone, without meeting any pesky old signature requirements. Only Mitt Romney and Ron Paul have qualified for the Virginia Republican primary. Newt Gingrich blamed a worker who committed petition fraud, and Rick Perry and the others aren’t blaming anyone in particular. They simply failed to collect the 10,000 signatures needed to be on the ballot.

Cucinelli told Fox News “I think you need to make it relatively easy to get on the ballot. That’s my biggest problem with Virginia right now, is that they have made it just incredibly hard for anyone to get on the ballot.” Yeah, you have to have an organization in the state and that organization has to collect 400 signatures in each of the state’s 11, plus an additional 5,600 signatures and all petition collectors must be state residents. Cucinelli went on, “You know most other states its about making it relatively simple, with some you know good standards in place…Again, that’s that state’s decision. And I may not agree with how they do it, but I’m a big tenth amendment fan and believe that the states have the sovereign right to make the decision for themselves.” Um, did that make any sense to you? Me neither.
