Virginia
Related: About this forumWhat can you tell me about Richmond?
I have a brother who lives just outside of there - but he's pretty right-wing so not the one to ask!
A few questions:
How liberal/conservative is Richmond? Can a very very liberal, atheist be comfortable there? Or find kindred spirits?
How racist is Richmond these days?
Cost of living? (cheap safe apartments)
VCU - opinions?

(38,613 posts)and I've been in San Francisco for the past dozen years
The city itself is pretty cool, it's when you wander off into Chesterfield that it starts really feeling like a red state. VCU was great when I went there, and it's grown considerably since then.

As with all cities, I'd assume one can find kindred spirits of all kinds. I'm sure Virginians will be able to answer in a more informed way.
Keep in mind: Virginia Governors are limited to one term, can't be immediately re-elected; they have a repug now, so as time moves on, things change.
Good climate, and variety of political and geographic experiences nearby; I'm in MD DC suburb, Maryland is FINE, and there are BEACHES!

(4,578 posts)Not too expensive. Not too racist or red. Vcu is a fine school. Lots to do in the area. You have mountains, the ocean, and DC near ya.
