GOP Candidate for Governor Pledges Higher-Grade Fireworks

I guess it's a matter of priorities ...

++++++++++++
Virginia's Republican candidate for governor says ordinary citizens should be free to shoot off bottle rockets and Roman candles.

...

Gillespie said the state is missing out on an opportunity to create jobs, revenue and fun.

Democrats used the fireworks pledge to needle Gillespie over his reluctance to take a firm stand on Republican health-care bills in Congress. Gillespie's Democratic opponent, Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam, opposes efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

If this is all Gillespie got. He should concede and save the GOP the cash. There all sorts of problems nationally and on a state level that need to be fixed.
He brings up the need for bigger and more dangers fireworks. I'm just glad we have a Democratic governor so they can't steal it with purging the voter rolls or imposing stricter ID requirements.

I'd like to see the GOP spend that money. The more they spend on this race, the less goes elsewhere.

I know some folks out in the country who would vote for him on the basis of this one statement. Of course, they are not seen in the polling place very often. They did vote this past November, but Hillary prevailed by a few votes in my precinct.

They voted in the last general because their relatives didn't want another Democrat like "that man" in office. These folks have lived on the dole all their lives and work occasionally for cash only. I've known them for more than 30 years. They are descendants of Hessian mercenaries who ended up staying in America after the British defeat. They have a very limited vocabulary and are very hard to understand. They have minimal interaction with society other than AM radio and over the air TV.

People like this do exist up in the hills.

There is going to be a Libertarian on the ballot again this year.
