CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- The Charlottesville Office of Human Rights hosted a picnic at the IX Art Park on Saturday.

It was one of the many events to deter people from attending Saturday's planned KKK rally.

A large crowd came out to enjoy food and music.

They office of human rights says they will not tolerate any group that promote hatred, and they wanted to spend the day bringing the community together.

"Any group that would promote hate, violence, or intolerance, is not really something we would support in any way," said John Kluge, with the Office of Human Rights. "This is a way for the community to come together and support human and civil rights."

They say it was great to see everyone coming together to unify the city.
