Two people were fatally struck by an Amtrak train while they were walking on railroad tracks Wednesday afternoon in Chester, police said.
Chesterfield County police said they were withholding identification of the two people until next of kin could be notified.
There was a large police presence Wednesday evening behind a complex of senior apartments in Chester Village, which abuts the tracks. Residents there said they frequently see teenagers walking on the tracks to cut through to a nearby neighborhood.
