Sentara indicates they have COVID19 testing through commercial labs.

Sentara is developing in-house COVID-19 testing

Sentara now has access to tests through commercial laboratories and will use these if testing cannot be obtained through state health departments and a doctor thinks screening is advisable.

Additionally, Sentara laboratories expect to be able to conduct COVID-19 testing in-house at regional sites in the next few weeks. We are purchasing the needed equipment and creating a process to make sure testing can be turned around quickly.

The link to this part of their site is from a banner at the top. Although the link says Charlottesville, the information is not locality specific.

University of Virginia Medical Center's Coronavirus FAQ: https://uvahealth.com/services/infectious-disease/coronavirus-faqs indicates that they are working on getting test capabilities in house, but use CDC and VDH.

Not a whole lot of information there. I do know they are receiving tests for respiratory infections from Sentara. Their Respiratory Pathogens Panel covers more types of infection than the one locally at Sentara. I suppose they want to rule out any of these infections before testing for a Covid-19 infection.

Is it possible that someone has more than one infection (Covid19 and some other) and cases of Covid19 will be missed?
