Williamsburg now Covid19 epicenter for Virginia!

James City County -- as of 12:30 p.m. Friday — surpassed Fairfax County with the number of “presumptive positive” cases of the coronavirus (COVID- 19).

According to an update from Virginia Department of Health at noon Friday, there are seven in James City County who tested presumptive positive. That brings to a total of 30 cases — up from 17 a day ago — in the state, including 10 hospitalizations. No deaths have been reported.

Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency. The city of Williamsburg on Friday partially activated its Emergency Operations Center..

York County on Friday also declared a local state of emergency. The declaration is an accounting mechanism that may allow the county to be reimbursed for virus-related costs, officials said.

William & Mary Thursday announced a staff member had been exposed to the virus.

Glad you guys are doing well and hope that it remains that way. I'm mostly worried about my mom, since she's in her 80s, though she's in relatively good health overall, but still a concern. Otherwise, we're well, though my allergies are acting up, so...that's fun these days.

9. I grew up there and can no longer find my way around.

All my ties to the town ended around 1990 when my parents sold the old home place. I've been back to a couple of high school reunions (2008 and 18) but find little joy in catching up on what the largely right wing religious folks have been doing with their lives. Most of the ones I would like to see don't go.

The area where I grew up was farms, inexpensive houses/trailers, and more substantial homes the further toward Williamsburg you went. That area now is near a bunch of very expensive homes in gated communities and retail seems to have taken over our 14 acres.
