NTSB release report on fatal 2018 plane crash in Albemarle County

From CBS19

WASHINGTON (CBS19 NEWS) -- The National Transportation Safety Board has issued its final report on a fatal plane crash that occurred in western Albemarle County in 2018.

Officials report that 51-year-old Kent Carr of Staunton was likely impaired by alcohol and an antihistamine medication at the time of the crash on the evening of April 15, 2018.

Both the alcohol and the antihistamine act as depressants and can impair judgment and motor skills, and the antihistamine, Cetirizine, comes with the warning that it should not be taken with alcohol.

NTSB says that a friend of the pilot said he had a “couple of drinks” while they had been getting dinner that evening and he left her home around 7:30 p.m.

The Cessna 525 took off from the Richmond Executive-Chesterfield County Airport in Richmond around 8:35 p.m. and was heading for the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport in Weyers Cave.
