3. Inslee flays Trump, announces 3rd governor run flanked by Democrats who wanted his job

Gov. Jay Inslee, a newly minted dropout from the 2020 presidential race, began his bid for a third term by continuing to flay President Donald Trump, with angry words against the administration's "gag rule" on family planning clinics.

The Governor was flanked by Attorney General Bob Ferguson and King County Executive Dow Constantine, who would have been running for governor had Inslee been nominated or decided to stop at two terms.

"Washington state wants to be fully prepared for these assaults by the Trump Administration," said Inslee. The state plans to fund clinics that refuse to follow Trump rules -- no abortion counseling or referrals -- and Inslee said he will ask the Legislature for more money next January.

"We're going to make sure this gets taken care of," the governor said.
