Temps dropping, snow falling in the Cascades this weekend, says Cliff Mass, NWS
To find snow, one has to only travel east a couple of hours from Western Washington this weekend.
Snow levels could dip to 3,500 feet in the Cascade Mountains starting Saturday, the National Weather Service said in an emailed statement Wednesday. Friday will see snow levels reach 4,000 feet. NWS warned hikers and campers in the mountains to prepare for sharp temperature drops.
The 2-8 inches of snow in some areas of the Cascades isn't the only sign of transitioning seasons in the Northwest, temperatures in lower areas look to drop as well. In rural areas of western Washington, temperatures could hit the 30s at night, in urban areas the drop will be to the mid-40s.
The releases from NWS back up blogs by University of Washington professor Cliff Mass, who has been forecasting snow in the mountains for in his last fewposts.
