King County picks White Center site for quarantine site amid COVID-19 response

People living in White Center are voicing concern after King County started setting up a temporary quarantine village for people with coronavirus in the middle of a neighborhood.

The county started moving in trailers in the 200 block of Southwest 112th Street Tuesday afternoon. None of the neighbors in the area had a clue about the temporary housing and many were asking why was their neighborhood chosen.

“I was watching the news and I said, 'That’s across the street,' ” said White Center resident Marsha Robins. "That's some scary stuff for me, and I’m a health freak because I’m 68 years old.”

Up to eight trailers will be on the lot after a building is demolished first, but officials say initially they won't be hooked up to water or sewer. The trailers are essentially five small one bedroom apartments.

Even if these are shipping containers, and they put a door to the exterior, each unit would only be ~ 5' x 10'. 50 sq feet.

That's basically a bed, with a chair and a table. Forget about a locker for clothes unless its under the bed.

That should be a special place to spend 2 weeks of your life...... Hopefully not the last 2 weeks.
