Boeing sends 10 workers home, cleans 777 Everett factory area after man falls ill
Boeing said that a worker on its 777 jetliner production line became ill with "flu-like symptoms" during the evening shift on Wednesday and was immediately sent home, as were others in close contact with that man.
"The employee did not need emergency care, but he has gone home and will contact his personal doctor tomorrow to follow up," Boeing Everett site leader Jeff Klemann told workers in an internal message Wednesday night.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we have asked about 10 teammates who were in close contact during second shift to also go home," Klemann's message added.
Klemann said Boeing's facilities team then immediately cleaned and sanitized the area where the sick man and the 10 others worked "again, just to be safe."
