Seattle mayor urges Pence to help small businesses get through crisis

With Seattle small businesses struggling due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, Mayor Jenny Durkan on Thursday asked Vice President Mike Pence to increase testing for COVID-19 and help small businesses.

In a statement, Durkan said she has heard from many small businesses that already have been impacted significantly.

Companies across the city are both having their office staffs work from home, delaying or canceling events and suspending business travel. This has hurt restaurants, catering businesses and hotels.

The state health department reported Friday there were 79 COVID-19 cases in Washington, with the virus now in Grant and Jefferson counties, which have one case each. On Thursday, there were 70 cases statewide.
