WA residents can sign up for health insurance during special enrollment period due to COVID-19
People who don't have health insurance in Washington can now sign up during a special enrollment period in response to the spread of COVID-19 in the region.
The Washington Health Benefit Exchange announced this week people without health insurance who qualify can enroll in coverage from now until April 8 through Washington Healthplanfinder. To enroll, people need to contact the customer support center and select a plan. Coverage for people who enroll during this period will begin April 1.
It is apparent that many in our state have been exposed to this virus and that health insurance will be critical to those seeking treatment, Exchange Chief Executive Officer Pam MacEwan said in a statement.
Individuals need to have peace of mind to take care of all health needs, especially if they are at a high risk. Given todays exceptional circumstances we are enabling those who are uninsured to enroll and gain access to the vital services they may need.
