McMenamins to temporarily lay off 3,000 workers, close most locations
In a move it called "necessary and unprecedented," McMenamins on Tuesday temporarily closed all of its locations except for one. The move will affect thousands of employees.
The closures are in response to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. In Washington state, there are now more than 1,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.
The closures are "for the next several weeks," the company said.
"The music has stopped – for now," the company wrote on its website. "All McMenamins, except (the) 23rd Ave Bottle Shop, are temporarily closed. We’ll be ready for you with beer, wine and burgers when this is over. Until then, stay safe."
The 23rd Ave Bottle Shop is in Portland.
