School buses become meal delivery for Mason County kids during coronavirus shutdown

They’re meant to deliver students, but with schools closed the bus drivers of the North Mason School District are now delivering meals to those students.

Starting Monday drivers started delivering bagged breakfasts and lunches to bus stops throughout the rural district.

“We’re a high-poverty district,” said Superintendent Dana Rosenbach, who said some schools have more than 70% of students who qualify for free or reduced-priced meals.

Rosenbach decided to have the food delivered because most of the students in the district cannot walk to their schools to pick up meals.
