Live updates: 83 deaths, 1,524 coronavirus cases in Washington state
There are now at least 83 coronavirus deaths in Washington, with more than 1,500 cases confirmed. Meanwhile, the U.S. is closing both its southern and northern borders, hospitals are asking the public to help pitch in to make surgical masks, and more states are enacting stricter shutdown orders on residents.

Inslee said hes not issuing a shelter-in-place order on Friday, but he will if necessary to protect 7 million residents.
Im asking every Washingtonian who has someone older in their family and tell them they really cant go out anymore unless its for the essentials, like food or to the pharmacy, Inslee said.
