Seattle couture designer answers Providence's challenge with 20,000 surgical masks
When Seattle-based couture designer Luly Yang learned of the desperate shortage of hospital masks, she immediately began calling her sources all over the globe.
In less than a week, Yang was able to source 20,000 surgical masks and have them delivered to her Seattle condo for pickup by Renton-based Providence Health and Services. Yang has also located another 20,000 masks which she is having shipped to an Oregon hospital.
I do couture, yes, but I also manufacture clothing for uniforms with a lot of amazing global partners, she said.
That clothing includes uniforms for hotels, restaurants, delivery services, Alaska Airlines, and the safety vests that Amazon uses for its delivery drivers globally.
