King County sees rise in coronavirus cases among people experiencing homelessness
More than 100 people experiencing homelessness or working in King County homeless shelters or other service sites have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, public health officials said this week.
Public Health - Seattle & King County reported Monday the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 among those experiencing homelessness or working in homeless service sites had risen to 112.
On April 10, officials estimated there were about 60 positive cases of the virus in King County homeless shelters.
Officials also reported a man had died at a quarantine facility in Kent. Medical staff found the man, in his 60s, unresponsive during a routine check, according to officials. The county has set up a number of facilities for people who are experiencing symptoms of the virus, or have tested positive, and don't have a safe place to isolate or quarantine. About 70 people are staying in King County isolation, quarantine and recovery facilities in all, officials said.
