'We are not the Puget Sound': Spokane Co. leaders advocate for regional reopening

After an address from Gov. Jay Inslee outlining Washington state's recovery plan, leaders in Spokane County continue to advocate for a different reopening timeline in eastern Washington.

“We are looking for more clarity and looking forward to more clarity from our governor on what his plan is to open up our economy," said Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward at a briefing on Wednesday morning. "I think a lot of people in Spokane County still feel frustrated. We’ve got now three paycheck periods that people have missed.”

Inslee's statewide stay-at-home order aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus is set to expire on May 4. He said on Tuesday night that the state will not be able to lift most of the restrictions by that date.

Inslee added that the economy will reopen gradually, and not all at once.

“It will look more like the turning of a dial than the flipping of a switch,” Inslee said.

True but you're still the largest county in eastern WA. Right now you're 3rd among counties in that part of the state but that could change if you're not careful.

"Over the weekend, all 71 residents of an agricultural housing facility near East Wenatchee were tested. Half of the results came back positive. All were previously asymptomatic.

The results are already changing how the Chelan-Douglas Health District is approaching testing of people in communal living sites, including agricultural housing and homeless shelters.

“It was really remarkable to find that many positives as in a group like that,” health district Administrator Barry Kling said. “It really has us thinking differently now.”

Also

"Okanogan County Public is reporting 4 new cases today. We were made aware of 2 of these cases yesterday after we had sent our update prior to the Governor’s news conference. Public Health, in conjunction with the Colville Tribes, is investigating these additional cases and will be notifying any potential contacts."

(Sorry no link as it comes as a text ) but they have a facebook page with the same information
The 36 asymptomatic employees is with the employer trying to do social distancing as much as possible but difficult in close quarters.

Then when another a week ago several at same residence

"WATERVILLE — Eleven new COVID-19 cases were reported in Waterville Tuesday, the highest single-day jump in any NCW county since the outbreak began.

The rise in cases is tied to a single private residence in the town, Chelan-Douglas Health District Administrator Barry Kling said in an email Tuesday."

Then the Small towns south of Wenatchee has been hit hard

"With two new cases reported on Sunday evening, the number of COVID-19 positives in Grant County is now up to 143.

Quincy still has the highest number of cases in Grant County at 49. The new cases are both Moses Lake residents, bringing the total to 30 in Moses Lake. The Mattawa area has the second highest in the county with a total of 35"

So Spokane it does not matter in what part of the state you live in, it is out there and apparently a lot of us are not showing symptoms.

She teaches at the Quincy school district. Last month she had to go into self quarantine for two weeks because she was exposed to an infected person.

Fortunately she didn't get the virus.

Poor Quincy they have been hit hard.
I live not far so I have been trying to follow all the surrounding areas.
It’s like when we have the fires you get alerts from several counties/ towns. Just to keep up on what’s happening because you have family or friends that live in at least one of them.
By they way I’m always so grateful for your posts on what is happening here in Washington. Thank you.
For all you do.

from where I live in western MT. Lots of Washingtonians come this way to buy cars, boats, rv’s... big ticket items because we have no sales tax here. Yikes.
