Seattle's Pyramid Alehouse, open since 1984, to close permanently

This past Thursday, April 30, Seattle's beloved hub for all manner of juicy IPAs and apricot ales, Pyramid Alehouse, officially decided to close its doors for good.

Pyramid Brewing, founded in Kalama, Washington by Tom Baune and Beth Hartwell in 1984, was formerly known as Hart Brewing Company, boasting the flagship Pyramid Wheaten Ale.

Following the somewhat infamous acquisition/merger of Hart Brewing with another pioneering local brewery, Thomas Kemper Brewing, the renamed and restructured company moved its brewery and headquarters to Seattle in 1996, according to Washington Beer Blog. Pyramid transformed Thomas Kemper into a soft drink brand, something for which a lot of old-school beer geeks never forgave Pyramid for.

Originally, Thomas Kemper was a brewery in Poulsbo, Washington, founded in 1984.

Now, years later, the beloved watering hole nestled alongside T-Mobile Park will pour out its final pint.
