Cemeteries cancel public Memorial Day ceremonies due to COVID-19 pandemic

SEATTLE -- No formal tributes to honor fallen military service members will be held at the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle this Memorial Day because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, many cemeteries across the region will change how our fallen heroes will be remembered on Memorial Day. The hope is to prevent the gathering of large groups.

In Lynnwood, giant American flags line the entrance to Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery.

It's an annual sign that Memorial Day is almost here.
