Most major Seattle parks closed on Labor Day due to pandemic

SEATTLE - More than a dozen popular Seattle parks are closed today on Labor Day.

Officials say they're trying to keep the parks open during the pandemic so people can get out - but too many people are coming out, leading to unsafe conditions.

Most Seattle parks are open until 9:30 p.m., but by 8 p.m. Sunday, the signs were up telling people that 16 major city parks are closed until 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Afftected parks include Seward, Golden Gardens, Green Lake and Magnuson.

Went to a small park in a small town yesterday.
Way to many people.
Had to put on mask.
Only 3 people had one one out of 50.

It's always been well used, and in earlier years all summer long there were many gatherings of people, especially birthday parties with bouncy castles and all. It's part of what I love about living here.

In stores and restaurants people here are extremely good about wearing masks. But at the park I will see a lot of unmasked people. Okay, so it's outside which minimizes risk, and people are not crowding shoulder to shoulder to shoulder, but still.
