Some protesters say Seattle police officers chilling free speech with recent arrests
A protest in Seattle that was triggered by a grand jury decision in Kentucky not to indict three Louisville police officers in the Breonna Taylor case occurred Wednesday night as marchers made their way to Capitol Hill before joining another group protesting the same court decision that was happening at Cal Anderson Park.
The protests erupted into a clash with Seattle Police Department officers outside the front of the East Precinct and ended with the arrests of 13 people, all of whom were released from jail while awaiting potential charges.
But local attorney Sarah Lippek said new patterns were visible.
Police violence is escalating, and arrests are becoming more and more brutal (and) we are seeing more injuries, said Lippek, whose firm, Cedar Law, has been assisting protestors by providing legal advice and representation.
