Get ready for a cold, wet winter, Seattleites, as the strength of this year's La Nina is expected to bring more precipitation and cooler-than-usual temperatures to the region.
In new forecasts announced last week, the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center announced that La Nina had strengthened during the month of October and gave a 95% chance that La Niña is likely to last through March, calling it a "moderate-to-strong" event this year.
The center's weather experts are also predicting a 65% chance of it hanging on through the spring.
And if you don't remember what La Niña is from your science of geography classes, here's a brief refresher: La Niña, an ocean-atmosphere weather pattern that describes below-average sea surface temperatures across the east-central Equatorial Pacific.

At least we'll get a good snow pack in the mountains.
