Rental vacancy rate in Washington one of the lowest in the country: report
Washington had one of the lowest rental vacancy rates of all the states across the country, according to a new study.
The rental vacancy rate in Washington in the fourth quarter of 2020 was 3.8%, down from the same time in 2019, when it was at 5.4%, the study from Porch.com find. Washington took the eighth spot on the list of states with the lowest rental vacancy rates. The median rent in the state during that time was $1,759. More than one-third of households in the state rent, according to the study.
The coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on housing costs and vacancy rates throughout the country.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many aspects of life, and some of the most significant shifts have occurred in housing. More time spent working, schooling, and socializing at home in line with public health guidance has people increasingly reconsidering their living preferences," the report said.
