COVID antibody treatments going unused in WA state as hospitals fill up, DOH says

As pandemic-related hospitalizations continue to surge under a Delta-variant fueled wave of COVID-19, thousands of doses of medicine, that could reduce the risk of hospitalization or death in high-risk patients, have gone unused, according to the Washington State Department of Health.

As COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths have continued to spike nationwide, a treatment that is currently available to high-risk Washingtonians has gone largely unused, according to Washington State Department of Health (WSDOH).

It’s called monoclonal antibody therapy.

“I think we really want to make people aware, there is a very effective treatment that’s out there if you’re dealing with COVID,” said WSDOH COVID-19 medical advisor, Dr. Bob Lutz. “Especially if you have those high-risk characteristics that could cause you to get hospitalized.”

if insurance companies are refusing to cover the cost of that treatment. It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I'm sure it's much cheaper than taking up an ICU bed.

I'd guess that the problem is that this treatment needs to be used early, and seeing as most of the people who end up in the ICU are unvaccinated, I'd wager that early in the progress of the disease, they're still going to be in denial, so aren't going to seek out this treatment.

By the time these unvaccinated idiots get to the hospital it's already too late. They'll deny they even have COVID, to themselves and everyone else, until they're knocking on death's door.

Morons.

If Death Sentence is stockpililng these the way he did hydroxychloroquine, you have to have doubts about it, especially as we know drumpf is invested in this co.

I know this is just 2 people, but my friends brother is 82 and his wife 80 and they came down quickly with a bad case. They went to the hospital, were admitted, and given these antibodies fairly quickly. The wife responded and was out of the hospital the next day or the day after. The brother was always worse, he's still in ICU 5 days later, on H2o and doing better, but still only has 57% oxygen. They didn't help him at all, so on an ancetodotal basis, it's 50% not he 90% effectiveness that Death Sentence and Kemp are claiming. Bet Kemp is invested in it just like TFG (and bet Death Sentence is too). The R's only do things that profit them, regardless of who lives or dies.
