Masks are to be required throughout the Washington State Fair.

Pierce County just issued a health order requiring full masking both indoors and outdoors throughout the fairgrounds. The Fair just posted the update on their site.

“UPDATE: As of Aug. 31, 2021, the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department issued a health order, requiring masks be worn throughout The Fair, both indoors and outdoors.

We realize that some of our guests might not agree with this mandate, but it is crucial we adhere to this, for us to open our gates – and remain open,” officials wrote in the notice. “So please, bring your mask and wear it during your visit. Have a great time at the biggest party in the state. We understand if you need to skip our party this year, but we look forward to seeing you again soon.”

(Glad to see this - my wife and I are committed to judging at a fair venue this weekend, and again in 2 weeks. The mandate alone will also help to keep a bunch of the more rabid idiots away.)

2 years ago (The Fair was canceled last year) you'd see a ton of MAGA hats and shirts on the attendees, and several vendors were also there selling that crap.

If requiring a mask keeps most of these folks away - all the better, since these are also the idiots that are the least likely to be vaccinated.
