Providence aims to address burnout with systemwide mental health survey
Providence Health Services is rolling out a mental health survey to address Covid-19 burnout and post-traumatic stress disorder among employees across its system.
A spring study from the Kaiser Family Foundation and Washington Post showed 55% of front-line health care workers reported feeling burned out, and about one-third said they've considered leaving the industry.
Through an anonymous online survey, the My Mental Health Matters initiative checks up on staff and identifies areas of mental health in which they may need assistance, as well as resources for finding help.
Providence is sending its survey to staff across its system, which includes both Swedish and Pacific Medical Centers. The Renton-based health care provider employs more than 120,000 caregivers across 52 hospitals in Washington Alaska, Montana, Oregon and California.
