Unsettled weather pattern to reach Western Washington, but 'bomb cyclone' shouldn't have impacts
Get out your rain boots and wind breakers: a series of wet weather systems moving over Western Washington will bring rounds of rain, high winds and the potential for thunderstorms into the weekend.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle is currently predicting that four active weather systems will move over the region by early next week, with the first batch of rain and wind arriving Thursday afternoon.
"Expect rain to continue to push inland, making its way into the interior by late this afternoon and continuing into the evening, before tapering to showers overnight," wrote NWS in their Thursday forecast discussion.
While Seattle will only see 0.25 to 0.50 inches of rain Thursday, totals are expected to reach 1.5 to 2 inches by early next week, with the strongest system moving over the region Sunday through Monday. Thunderstorms are also possible Friday, although confidence is not as high. Maximum wind gusts are expected to reach 20-25 miles per hour on Thursday through Friday in Seattle.
