SEATTLE — A Fauntleroy ferry crashed into a 'dolphin' structure at the terminal on Thursday.

Washington State Ferries (WSF) tweeted the "hard landing" is causing significant damage to the vessel and the offshore structure at the terminal. The MV Cathlamet — built in 1981 and rebuilt in 1993, according to WSF — left Vashon Island at 8:03 a.m. It is 328 feet long and carries up to 1,200 passengers and 124 vehicles.

No injuries have been reported. The Coast Guard is investigating the incident.

The Fauntleroy service has been suspended until further notice. The 8:30 a.m. departure to Vashon is delayed, WSF said.

I'm sure the ferry system will have many excuses about why they have to slow down service on every other run.
