Starbucks closes unionized Seattle store, transferring operations to QFC
Starbucks Corp. (Nasdaq: SBUX) is closing a unionized coffee shop in Seattle, the company told employees Monday. It's part of a move to transition the store's operations to the QFC grocery store with which it shares a building.
The store at 9999 Holman Road NW will close this week, a spokesperson said. It's unclear when it will reopen under QFC's management.
"This decision will continue the long-term growth of this store and better align with the unique relationship this store has with customers and QFC," a spokesperson for the Seattle coffee giant said in an email.

The Holman store's closure marks the sixth Seattle Starbucks coffee shop to close in recent months. The other five were closed over safety concerns, the company said. Of the six stores that closed, three were unionized by baristas.
