Vulcan still mum about the future of Seattle's Cinerama

The future of the Cinerama, closed since before the start of the pandemic, remains in limbo.

A spokesperson for the late Paul Allen's Vulcan Inc. on Monday said the company had "no news to share at this time" about the famous downtown Seattle movie house on Fourth Avenue at Lenora Street.

It was the second time in nine months that Vulcan said there was no news to share, earlier delivering the same message to The Seattle Times editorial board, which opined the city "needs a hero to save (the) beloved Cinerama."

Questions about theater, where Allen attended films during its 1960s heyday, come as Vulcan and Allen's estate have sold residential property on Mercer Island for $67 million, the 414-foot Octopus yacht and a downtown Seattle tower development site at Fifth and Lenora, a half block from the movie house.
