Skykomish wildfire shuts down US 2, evacuations in place

Earlier, an evacuation alert was sent out regarding evacuations west of Index, officials have requested that you disregard said alert.

A wildfire near Skykomish reported early Saturday morning has closed US 2 and is prompting evacuations in the area.

The Bolt Creek Fire has burned an estimated 2,000 acres, according to the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Level 1, 2, and 3 evacuation orders are in place for about 300-400 homes.

Anyone from Skykomish to Index, north of US 2 should evacuate immediately, according to officials. Local law enforcement is going door-to-door to notify residents to evacuate.

Level 3 evacuation is in place ONLY for those north of US 2 from Skykomish to Index. Crews have been receiving questions about the evacuation notice due to the Bolt Creek Fire. Bothell DOES NOT need to evacuate. Please take extra caution during the dry, hot, and smoky weather.

UPDATE: **Level-III: MANDATORY Evacuation**

The wildfire has now reached DNR Level III. Anyone from Skykomish to Index, north of Hwy 2 needs to evacuate immediately.
