Optimism, some uncertainty as Seattle teachers reach tentative deal with school district

Seattle Public Schools reached a tentative agreement with the teachers’ union on a new contract Monday night.

There will be no classes on Tuesday. Members of the Seattle Education Association still need to vote on whether or not to end the strike.

District officials said they would give an update on Tuesday afternoon about when classes may start.

During negotiations, the teachers’ union and the school district were able to come to a resolution on several key proposals, finally reaching a tentative deal.
