According to the Tacoma Police Department, Shawn Kemp's actions were ruled as self-defense.
Former Seattle Supersonics star Shawn Kemp will no longer be detained and charged with a crime following the shooting incident in Washington.
Per the Tacoma Police Department, Kemp's actions were ruled as self-defense and he will not be charged. Kemp was released from jail at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, per Pierce County booking records.
To briefly recap the series of events, Kemp was tracking stolen items from his car, and when he approached the car that stole some of his things, shots were fired at him, and he retaliated by opening fire himself.
