Auto insurance premiums dip in Seattle, bucking national trend

Rest assured, driving in the Seattle area is not as pricey as in the rest of the country.

That's according to consumer finance company Bankrate's new report that analyzed auto insurance premiums in the 25 largest U.S. metro areas. It found that the Seattle metro area has the second most affordable auto insurance.

While the average national cost of full coverage auto insurance in 2023 rose 13.72% from last year, premiums in Seattle trended in the opposite direction.

The average Seattle driver pays $1,361 in auto insurance premiums, which is a 4.56% drop from 2022 and the fifth-largest decrease in the country.
