and not learn a damned thing. That goes for coal ports too. Crickets are more informative. I emailed Murray about both issues and said I would post her reply here. I'm not holding my breath. They do both favor jobs and pie, however.

Thank you for contacting me with your comments about international trade issues. I appreciate hearing from you.

As a United States Senator, one of my top priorities is to promote economic growth for Washingtonians. To me, this means protecting current jobs and aggressively seeking to create new jobs in manufacturing, high tech, agriculture and forest products, and service industries active in Washington State. An important and growing component of our state's economy is international trade.

Washington State is the most trade dependant state in the nation. According to State of Washington estimates, one in three jobs in our state is dependent on international trade and foreign exports account for roughly 25 percent of Washington's gross state product. Trade matters to all sectors of our economy and to every region of our state. Expanding our international markets and lowering trade barriers to our products are in our best interest and have already brought benefits to our state.

I believe that it is important to work with our trading partners to ensure that they comply with internationally accepted norms with regards to labor, environmental health, human rights, and intellectual property standards. It is crucial that we engage in fair trade practices and demand the same from our trade partners. Please know I will keep your comments in mind as the Senate considers international trade issues.

When I write or call, I am emphasizing that there is nothing more effective in getting Democrats to stay home this year than for our Democratic legislators to support TPP.
