Bernie Sanders to headline Pramila Jayapal rally Saturday in Seattle
Bernie Sanders will visit Seattle this weekend to headline a rally for 7th Congressional District candidate Pramila Jayapal, her campaign said Thursday.
The longtime Vermont senator and contender earlier this year for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination endorsed Jayapal in April along with just two other down-ticket candidates — Nevada’s Lucy Flores and New York’s Zephyr Teachout.
The Bernie boost helped Jayapal, a state senator and former immigrant-rights activist, finish first in August’s top-two primary election. She and fellow Democrat Brady Walkinshaw, a state representative, are facing off in next month’s general election.
Jayapal’s Sanders-headlined rally will be Saturday at The Showbox on First Avenue downtown.
