Lisa Brown passes $1M challenging Republican McMorris Rodgers
Lisa Brown has passed the $1 million mark in money raised for her challenge to U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a member of the House Republican leadership and seven-term member of Congress from Eastern Washington.
Brown announced for Congress in September, soon after leaving her job as chancellor of Washington State University - Spokane. The Democrat has since drawn 5,682 donors, and signed up more than 2,000 people willing to volunteer in the campaign.
The news was released on a day that McMorris Rodgers officially announced her reelection campaign during a breakfast at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane.
The incumbent will not be caught napping. McMorris Rodgers had more than $1 million in the bank at the end of the year. She has laid on four town meetings during this year's Easter recess, after largely steering clear of such uncontrolled settings last year.
