Inslee declares statewide State of Emergency over snow storms

Snow storms have arrived in most areas of Western Washington, leading to Gov. Jay Inslee declaring a statewide State of Emergency.

The governor’s declaration helps in the delivery of essential supplies by lifting select exemptions.

Reports of snowfall flowed in from across the region since Friday morning.

Snowfall started in Seattle around 12:30 p.m. Friday. Around 2:30 p.m., NWS noted that the first round of heavier snow over the Seattle metro area had “diminished.” Additional snow soon followed from the west.

All King County Metro buses were put on snow routes, while upwards of 200 flights were canceled at Sea-Tac Airport. Another 200 were delayed.

There is a winter storm warning in effect through 4 p.m. Saturday.

I was born and raised in the midwest, but moved to WA 21 years ago. I live in Whatcom County, about six miles from the Canadian border and I am always stunned at Seattle's reaction and panic attack to a little weather. Don't know where you found that chart, but it's hilarious.

Live in Olympia area (transplant from east coast) and I’ve measured a total of about 10” total accumulation and a lot of broken trees and stuck cars. If we get another 10” I’m reasonably positive that people will start eating each other....
