New law allows students to use medical marijuana at Washington public schools

Students who are registered medical marijuana users in the state of Washington will be allowed to use their medications on public school campuses.

Governor Jay Inslee signed the law into effect Tuesday afternoon.

“Currently children who need medical marijuana… have to leave school. They’re missing valuable time,” Inslee said before signing the bill.
It’s known as “Ducky’s Law,” named after nine-year-old River “Ducky” Barclay.

Ducky suffers from a rare and severe genetic disorder.

Her father, John Barclay, said when Ducky was in second grade, the family discovered CBD oil drops greatly reduced her seizures and enabled her to focus in class.
