Wave Division Capital buys Frontier's Northwest operations for $1.35B
Broadband investment firm WaveDivision Capital will buy Frontier Communications operations in some Northwest states for $1.352 billion, the companies announced Wednesday.
Kirkland-based WaveDivision Capital partnered with Searchlight Capital Partners to purchase Frontiers operations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. WaveDivision expects the sale to close by the end of the year pending regulatory approvals, CEO Steve Weed said in a news release.
We are excited to transition these operations to a local ownership team and to invest in building out the network of next generation fiber throughout our region, Weed said.
Frontier has 350,000 residential and commercial customers in these states, generating $619 million in revenue over the last year, according to a Frontier news release. The sale will reduce Frontiers debt and strengthen its liquidity, President and CEO Dan McCarthy said in the statement.

I retired from Frontier seven years ago. It started out as GTE Northwest. Later became Verizon when GTE and Bell Atlantic merged. Verizon sold the northwest operation to Frontier in 2010.
Each change made the operation progressively worse.
I saw the writing on the wall and left when I could taking my retirement as a lump sum.
Hope this next incarnation is a better one for the customer.
