'Nones' most numerous in state's religious landscape, Pew Research Center survey says

So-called "nones," those claiming no religious affiliation, outnumber Evangelical Christians, Catholics and mainline Protestants in Washington state, according to the Pew Research Center's 2019 religion and public life study.

A total of 32% on Washingtonians are "nones," a category that includes 5% atheists, 5% agnostics, and 22% who categorize their religious views as "nothing in particular."

Sixty-one percent of the Evergreen State still identifies as Christian. A quarter of the state's residents are evangelicals Christians, 13% identify as mainline Protestants, 2% with African-American Protestantism, 17% are Catholic, and 3% are in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and 2% Jehovah's Witnesses.

Washington is a little less Christian and has more "nones" than the nation as a whole. The figures nationally, based on Pew's 35,000-person survey, are 70% Christian with "nones" at just over 22%.

Nationally, Pew has noted the steady growth of "nones" particularly in the ranks of younger Americans.

3. and the people are nicer than anywhere. Other states did not accept my retarded child

as nicely as Wa state.Local kids played with her. Also until recently the drivers have been the most polite I have ever know and I have driven while living in 4 different states. Even now in a parking lot at the grocery store, I have been treated nicely by total strangers. Most polite state I ever lived in. I am a military brat and wife, now retired, in WA. Screw religion, I go for niceness every time!!!!!!!!!!!
