WVU Football: Marshall One Last Time; 2012 Mountaineer Season Is Here!

WVU is getting ready to play Marshall one last time. The 2012 season kicks off this Saturday at Mountaineer Field when WVU hosts Marshall. Fall camp is over, the starting lineup is at least penciled in and it's time to play some football.

This game may be just another season opener to the WVU coaches and players. But to most Marshall fans and many from WVU, this is a big one. Nine players from Marshall hail from West Virginia and would love to knock off WVU for bragging rights back home.

Marshall may be a Conference USA team, but they are coming off a winning season and a Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl victory over Florida International by a score of 20-10. This year, the Herd is hoping to upset WVU for the first time in the series.

<snip>

Expect next Saturday's game to start out close but finish with WVU pulling away. Milan Puskar Stadium is sold out, and the game will be broadcast by the FX channel.

How good was Don Barclay, when he played for you guys? Was anyone
talking about him as a player likely to have a pro career?

He looks like a good candidate to be a practice squad player, at least,
after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Packers. Offensive
line depth is not one of the team's strengths.
