Wisconsin GOP files complaint against Trek over Walker ad
Aamer Madhani, USA TODAY 1:13 p.m. EDT July 22, 2014
Wisconsin is still three weeks from its primary, but the expected general election battle between Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Mary Burke, his likely Democratic opponent, already is shaping up to be a brutal one.
On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Republican Party filed an official complaint against Trek Bicycle Corp. with the state's Government Accountability Board, charging the company made an illegal contribution to Burke when it bought a full-page newspaper ad blasting Walker and defending the company.
The Trek ad, which was published in Sunday's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, came in response to a television ad by Walker's campaign that targeted Burke's time at the company. The Walker ad shows a woman reading a boy and girl a story suggesting that Burke shipped jobs to China, where some workers earn only $2 per hour.
Burke served as an executive at the Wisconsin-based company, which her father founded. Her brother, John Burke, is now president of Trek. The television advertisement never specifically mentions Trek...........

Huge Walker Flip-Flop On Trek
Our Wrong-Way Governor, so desperate to denigrate opponent Mary Burke to beat her in an election that's slipping away, now says he won't say whether he thinks that Trek - - the iconic major Wisconsin corporate employer and success story - - is good for the state.
Really? Throw Trek under the bus, for personal, partisan gain? Because Mary Burke worked there - - the company her father founded and which is beloved in Wisconsin, and worldwide for quality bikes and a liberating lifestyle they support.
.....
This is one of the most bizarre flip-flops in state political history.

Scott Walker Swift-Boats Mary Burke
A new Marquette Law School poll released July 23 shows a dead heat in the race for Wisconsin governor, with Scott Walker trailing challenger Mary Burke 46 to 47 percent among likely voters, while among registered voters, Walker maintains a one-point lead.
The poll, which mirrors the results of a similar poll in May, comes amid an increasingly heated campaign and a volley of negative ads.
This week, the Walker campaign attacked Burke in a $175,000 ad buy for making millions as an executive at the business her father founded, the Trek Bicycle Company, while that company outsourced jobs to China to manufacture bicycle parts.
"Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your fortune grow? a woman reads, flipping through a storybook as a cute little girl leans on her arm. By making millions of dollars . . . Sending jobs overseas that could have been done in Wisconsin . . . To countries where women and children might work up to 12 hours a day, earning only two dollars an hour.".........

(276 posts)they have to demonize their opponents, make stuff up, and voter suppression. That they think is their winning hand. I do not think that voters are going to be misled by such antics.
