John Doe investigation legal fees approach $1 million

Here’s a rundown of the bills from attorneys and law firms as of Oct. 15:

The firm Lee, Kilkelly, Paulson & Younger has billed the state for $35,905 for representing the GAB. The firm’s fees are capped at $100,000.

Samuel Leib of the firm Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker has billed the state for $369,264 for representing Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm and two of Chisholm’s prosecutors. His fees are currently capped at $400,000.

Randall Crocker of the firm von Briesen & Roper has billed the state for $323,834 for representing special prosecutor Francis Schmitz. His fees are capped at $400,000.

The Chicago law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson has billed the state $1,155 to represent Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne and Iowa County District Attorney Larry Nelson. The firm’s fees are capped at $25,000.

Former Dane County Judge Patrick Fiedler of the firm Axley Brynelson has billed the state $155,110 for representing investigator Dean Nickel. His fees are capped at $175,000.

Michael Crooks of Peterson Johnson Murray has billed $4,987 for representing Dodge County District Attorney Kurt Klomberg and Columbia County District Attorney Jane Kohlwey. His fees are capped at $9,500.
